Our journey across countries and cultures gave us a clear vision: a warm, inspiring environment where children can explore, grow, and become more fully themselves. It’s also where our own daughter is growing up — surrounded by the same care, respect, and joy we give to every child here. And she shares it with a unique member of our community: our gentle three-legged rescue dog, whose calm spirit quietly teaches every child who meets him something about kindness and resilience.

That girl was Adriana. And the dream followed her across continents. One day after her 23rd birthday, she packed up her life and moved to the United States — where her Romanian teaching diploma wasn’t recognized and she had to start entirely from scratch. She went back to school, worked hard, and eventually graduated with honors in Early Childhood Education. On her daily commute, she used to pass an old amusement park called “Kiddieland.” The name stayed with her.
Years later, she and her husband Bogdan moved to Switzerland. He studied for his MBA in St. Gallen. She kept teaching — but the dream didn’t fade. Bogdan, inspired by Adriana’s vision, became her partner in every sense of the word. Her passion for education, his business experience. Together, they started building.
In 2014, after construction delays, setbacks, and a lot of determination, KiddieLand opened its doors on Röschibachstrasse on June 3rd — with a handful of children, some balloons handed out in nearby parks, and a very big belief in doing things differently. Parents noticed. Word spread. By 2017, four daycare groups. In 2018, a bilingual kindergarten on a new floor — 520m² in total, every corner designed to feel like a second home.
Adriana is now a mother herself. Which makes the whole thing feel, if anything, more important — not less.
KiddieLand exists to give children the best possible beginning — bilingual, thoughtful, genuinely nourishing in every sense of the word. Not just academically ready for what comes next, but curious, grounded, and confident in who they are.
We do that through an educational approach that challenges as much as it comforts — a bilingual curriculum that’s rooted in play, creativity, and real learning, not worksheets. Through a kitchen that cooks fresh, organic, locally sourced meals every single day, because how a child eats is part of how a child grows. And through educators who are here because they chose to be — professionals who feel genuinely valued, who keep learning, and who bring their whole selves to work.
For the families we work with, we aim to be more than a service. We’re an extension of your home. A place that knows your child’s name, their mood on a Monday morning, their favourite story, their latest obsession. A place you trust completely — because we’ve earned it.
Our approach is rooted in Reggio Emilia thinking: children are naturally curious, capable, and creative. They don’t need to be filled up with knowledge. They need space, time, and adults who know when to step back — and when to step in.
That means mess is welcome. Boredom has its place. And the question but WHY? deserves a real answer, every single time.
We’re bilingual by design (German in the mornings, English in the afternoons) because we believe language is how children understand the world — and more language means a bigger world.
Every Friday, our Kindergarteners spend the full day in the forest. Not as a reward. As school.

These aren’t values we wrote for a website. They’re the principles that actually shape our decisions — what we hire for, what we invest in, and what we won’t trade away when things get complicated.
The child is always the starting point.
Every decision — from how we design a room to how we structure a day — begins with the same question: is this good for the child in front of us? Not children in general. This child, today.
Warmth is not softness.
We are a kind, generous, nurturing place. We’re also structured, high-expectation, and clear. Children need both. Warmth without rigour is just comfort. We aim for both.
Parents are partners, not clients.
You know your child better than we ever will. We know early childhood development well. That combination — when we work together — is when children really thrive. So we communicate a lot. Perhaps more than you expect.
We stay curious.
The research on early childhood keeps moving. New findings on language acquisition, play-based learning, nature exposure. We read it. We debate it. Sometimes we change what we do. Good enough is not enough.
We take the long view.
The goal was never to have a busy, entertaining KiTa. The goal is for each child who leaves us to be a little more curious, a little more confident, and a little more themselves than when they arrived.
Inclusion starts with respect — and grows through the small, daily moments of being seen.
KiddieLand has always been multilingual, multicultural, and — if we’re honest — a little wonderfully chaotic in the best possible way. Our families come from all over the world. So do our educators. That’s not a policy. It’s just who we are, and it shapes everything about how children experience their days here.
Children who grow up around different languages, traditions, and faces learn something no curriculum can teach on its own: that the world is wide, that difference is interesting, and that kindness travels across every language barrier. They pick this up not from lessons, but from watching the adults around them live it.
We also welcome children with disabilities — integrating one child with special needs per group, based on a careful, case-by-case evaluation. Our approach is simple and non-negotiable: the child comes first. The disability comes last. A label tells us very little about who a child is or what they’re capable of. We’d rather find out for ourselves.

Our team spans generations, nationalities, and life stories — local professionals alongside educators who’ve arrived from across the globe, each bringing something the others don’t have. What holds it all together isn’t a shared background. It’s a shared instinct: a genuine love for children, and the kind of warmth you either have or you don’t.
We can train someone in Reggio Emilia principles or bilingual pedagogy. We can’t train kindness, patience, or the ability to notice when a three-year-old is having a hard day before they’ve said a word.
That’s what we look for — and what we find, every day, in the people who make KiddieLand what it is.

Her classrooms blend imagination, structure, and a hint of drama – the good kind. When she’s not guiding curious minds, you’ll find her outdoors with her family, testing new recipes, or dreaming up creative projects for KiddieLand.

Bogdan found his true calling when he stepped in to support Adriana’s vision for KiddieLand – a project shaped with just as much care, commitment, and long nights as family life itself. Ever since, he’s been the steady engine behind it all.
As Co-Director, he ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes, from administration to accounting, so our educators can focus on what they do best. A proud dad to Matti from our Kindergarten group, Bogdan brings both structure and heart to the KiddieLand family.

After five adventurous years teaching in China (and collecting some legendary stories), she settled in Switzerland and has been a beloved part of the KiddieLand family for over six years – her son included.
As Co-Director, Mona leads with warmth, clarity, and a joyful sense of fun. Whether she’s supporting her team, planning new ideas, or bursting into song with the kids, Mona has a magical talent for making every day brighter.
Speaks: English, Tagalog, German – and understands Schwiizerdütsch (especially when Swiss chocolate is involved 🍫)

Sunshine-in-Chief – Spreading joy – slightly off-key, always on point
Born and raised in Switzerland with Armenian roots, Siri brings a mix of local heart, global perspective, and a whole lot of vibe to KiddieLand.
After years in the corporate and startup world – from L’Oréal and Swiss to Uber and Coople – she realised nothing felt meaningful enough to be away from her kids. Since her first child joined KiddieLand in 2019 (and two more since!), she’s been part of the family as both a parent and, since 2025, a professional.
Now Siri builds community, connection, and good energy across KiddieLand. She loves chatting with parents and sparking ideas to make our community even warmer and more fun – so don’t be shy, come say hi!

She leads our Lehrplan 21 program with equal parts heart and structure – blending academic clarity with imaginative fun. With a BA in Education and experience managing a non-profit, Viveca guides our little ones with patience, depth, and a genuine love for cultural diversity.

Queen of Calm – Unbothered, bilingual & boldly balanced
Curiosity has always been Patricia’s compass – it’s taken her from Romania to Germany and finally to Switzerland, driven by her fascination with how children learn across cultures.
With a BA in Education and over seven years of Kita experience, she brings calm curiosity and thoughtful guidance to our Lovebugs group. As KiddieLand’s Berufsbildnerin, she also mentors future educators with the same patience and heart she gives every child.
Patricia has a quiet magic for turning big questions into meaningful moments – and her steady presence makes the classroom feel like home.

Originally from Greece, Pavlos brings culinary experience from Athens to Munich – and now to our KiddieLand kitchen. After becoming a father of three, he discovered his true passion: creating healthy, child-friendly meals infused with Mediterranean soul.
Since moving to Zurich in 2020, he’s filled our Kita with delicious aromas, good energy, and the occasional kitchen dance break (which we fully support!). Pavlos believes good food nourishes both body and heart – and that a happy kitchen makes every day better.

Loving, patient, and endlessly kind, he’s wonderful with children and always up for a cuddle or a walk around the playground. After completing Swiss dog school with flying colors (and a few extra treats), Toto proudly holds the title of Chief Happiness Officer & Resident Good Boi.
